Rogue River, OR (October 2026) – Wagner Meters announces updates to its L5300 and L5200 industrial handheld wood moisture meters, helping lumber producers, sawmills, and kiln operators take and manage readings more efficiently. Both meters feature a redesigned screen interface, expanded built-in species selection, and two additional reading modes. The L5300 also gains Bluetooth® connectivity to the newly redesigned WoodStat™ Pro software, allowing users to transfer readings and prepare reports from compatible phones, tablets, and computers.

Updated Features for Both Meters

The L5300 and L5200 feature a modernized screen interface and an expanded species capacity, with 46 built-in wood species and additional slots to store up to 100 species. Online access to thousands of additional species through Wagner’s species database helps operators find the information they need when working with lumber beyond the built-in list. Expanded language options support international users.

Patented Auto-Reading Mode automatically captures a moisture reading when the user pauses on a board, eliminating the need to press a button for each measurement. Bringing the same reading approach used in Wagner’s Orion® 950 to industrial lumber measurement, this mode simplifies repetitive testing as operators move from board to board. Continuous Reading Mode is also available for users who prefer to take many quick moisture readings as they move the meter, or the L5300’s L722 Lumber Stack Probe, across multiple boards.

These updates build on the capabilities both meters already provide: accurate moisture readings up to 1 inch deep, a bright backlit color display, visual histograms to see how readings are distributed across a group of boards, and storage for up to 1,000 readings per group across 100 groups. The L5300’s USB and probe connectors are IP67-rated for dust and water resistance in demanding production environments.

Additional Capabilities for the L5300

The L5300 remains compatible with Wagner’s L722 Lumber Stack Probe, allowing operators to measure moisture deep within stickered lumber stacks. This capability supports drying decisions and quality control by helping identify moisture conditions that may be missed when testing only accessible boards.

New Bluetooth connectivity, exclusive to the L5300, expands its integration with WoodStat Pro. Operators can wirelessly transfer readings to a phone or tablet, review results, and create and send reports while still at the kiln or out in the yard, reducing the need to return to a computer to upload data.

Redesigned WoodStat Pro for Mobile and Desktop

Previously available only for PC, WoodStat Pro now includes iOS and Android mobile apps, a new Mac version, and a redesigned Windows version that replaces the previous PC software. A consistent design and functionality across mobile and desktop platforms provide a familiar experience wherever users manage their moisture data.

WoodStat Pro offers tools to import, analyze, and report readings, including histograms, statistical summaries, and customizable reporting. An optional AI assistant is available in the software settings and remains off by default until the user chooses to enable it.

Wagner Meters Offers Upgrades for Existing L5200 and L5300 Owners
