Field Service Technician

Salary
$22.40 – $33.65 an hour DOE

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Reports directly to the Technical Support Department Supervisor and is responsible for assisting and providing support for Product Deployment and Extreme Customer Care in a very diverse range of projects. Supervision will be directed primarily by the Technical Support Supervisor, but self-supervision is required on many tasks. Facilitates travel engagements and correspondence with high level management teams in the Forest Products industry. Reports on deployments, system integrations, and product enhancements features for continued growth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Required to travel to customer’s site for Product Deployment, field service, team training, testing of prototypes, all primarily within the continental US, limited world travel.
  • Operates test equipment including multi-meters and Oscilloscopes.
  • Gathers, reviews and reports on experimental data as directed by the supervisor.
  • Documents and tracks progress of projects as directed by the supervisor.
  • Fabricates prototype analysis reports on customers to produce strategies for enhancements.
  • Trouble shoots system failures and customer training deficiencies.
  • Creates and manages support documentation of projects.
  • Must be able to read and interpret electronic schematics, instructions, and specs.
  • Excellent electronic, communication and system troubleshooting skills are essential; must be able to perform repairs in a high-level environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must have excellent communication (oral and written)
  • Good time-management skills are essential
  • Must be highly organized, detail oriented and possess extreme ownership of tasks
  • Must possess and utilize a strong problem-solving aptitude and apply as required.
  • Must a have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, passport a plus
  • Familiar with travel accommodation bookings a plus

Must have at minimum an associate degree or equivalent years’ experience in electronics or computer science. Must have a minimum of 5 years of electronic and/or system troubleshooting. Must have experience with upper-level communication skills to work with company owners, CEOs, plant managers and superintendents, and other team members at lumber mills. Must have experience in data gathering and reporting on products and customers.


Field Service Technician

PRIMARY PURPOSE

To effectively represent the company in all customer interactions including installation, on-site service, and phone and email support, perform in-house testing, calibration and or repair of company and customer products, and initiate customer part(s) orders. along with interacting internally with Sales, Manufacturing and other departments as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In-house testing and repairing industrial and handheld equipment – < 35%
  • Telephone and email support – < 30%
  • Field service travel throughout North America – including start-ups, troubleshoot and training (Passport optional) – < 40%
  •  Travel Benefit Program – mileage reimbursement when using personal vehicle, air miles, hotel, rental car rewards are all yours, meal per diem, and extra Saturday perks.
  • Assist Customer’s with parts ordering – < 5%
  • Interact with other departments – < 15%
  • Compose internal documents and trip reports for customers – < 5%

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform QA and Bench tests on in-line systems prior to shipment
  • Assist and advise on hand meter repairs
  • Receive and process Customer repairs
  • Continuously looking to improve system performance by developing cost effective alternatives
  • Able to read and understand system drawings, schematics, BOMs and manuals

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Associates degree in Electronics or equivalent experience, good troubleshooting skills, familiar with MS-Office products, able to work in an environment where expectations are high, willing to travel at a moments notice and may be in the field for up to 2 weeks at a time visiting multiple customers.
