10 Times Faster
10 Times Faster? Much more than that, and it’s no contest! Here’s why:
Different than all other concrete relative humidity testing devices and methods, the Rapid RH™ patented design incorporates a very accurate RH/Temp sensor designed into every Rapid RH™ Smart Sensor Insert. All of the other methods use external sensors that slip into a plastic sleeve.
Initial Installation, Equilibration and First
Readings. Due to the patented design, once you install a Rapid RH™ Smart Sensor into a hole, it equilibrates faster than any other concrete relative humidity sensing device and does not have to be removed and then re-equilibrated when you want to get additional readings from a hole. Not only that, but within the first 15 minutes of installing a Rapid RH™ Smart Sensor into a hole, you will have a relative humidity reading that will give you a very good indication, to within about 3%, of what the final, documentable reading (at 72 hours according ASTM F2170) will be.
Subsequent
Readings in the Test Holes: Because readings from any Rapid RH™ Smart Sensor can easily be taken numerous times prior to floor installation, it is easy and fast to track the drying progress of the slab over hours, days, or weeks. Just insert the easy-to-use, compact and re-usable Rapid RH™ Reader into an already-installed and equilibrated Smart Sensor and get another reading; IMMEDIATELY. No waiting for the sensor to equilibrate again, because the Rapid RH™ Smart Sensor has never left the hole! This is not possible with any other concrete relative humidity testing methods without having a relatively expensive external probe (sensor) for every sleeve. With other methods (inserting sensors, taking the sensors out, re-inserting the sensors), you have no choice but to wait for them to equilibrate at least 15 minutes to 1 hour at every hole. You cannot just quickly ‘leapfrog’ from hole-to-hole with the competitive methods, but you can with the Rapid RH™.
How much waiting do you really want to do?

Lowest Cost per Test
The Rapid RH™ saves you money IMMEDIATELY. The Rapid RH™ has a much lower initial investment than other relative humidity measurement options in the marketplace, and the Rapid RH™ is less costly even if a person does not consider the significant time savings of the Rapid RH™ (See, “10 Time Faster”, above). The time savings alone leads to lower costs for you. Combine the lower costs and the time savings, and the choice for the Rapid RH™ becomes very clear.
Ongoing investments for the Rapid RH™ are lower than other options. For example, with the other competitive methods, the procedures for verifying calibration (required by ASTM F2170-02) are time consuming, tedious and require using either a salt solution or a humidity chamber of some type. The alternatives for anyone using the other RH testing methods that utilize external, reusable probes is to have the probes recalibrated (expensive) or verified for calibration at the manufacturer or attempt to perform calibration verification (un-certified) on their own. Actual recalibrating by an end-user is a very poor option. Often, the only realistic option for an end-user of the competitive methods is just to purchase new, relatively expensive probes.
At pennies per square foot, no re-calibration or re-certification issues ever, and with the most rapid readings available, the Wagner Rapid RH™ is less costly than any other method.

Easiest to Comply with ASTM F2170
Competitive RH methods use sensors that must be calibrated and/or verified for calibration. However, you never have to recalibrate or verify calibration of Wagner’s Rapid RH™ Smart Sensors; here are the facts:
Section 8 of ASTM F2170, “Standard Test Method for Determining Relative Humidity in Concrete Floor Slabs using in situ Probes” is very clear about the need to verify the calibration of re-usable probes within 30 days of usage. This applies to ALL re-usable RH probes. Since the Wagner Rapid RH™ Smart Sensor is not taken in and out of the hole, unnecessarily handled, exposed to adverse conditions and then re-used, this requirement does not apply to the superior design of the patented Wagner Rapid RH™ method. For other competitive methods, the procedures for checking calibration are time consuming, tedious and require using either a salt solution or a humidity chamber of some type.
Additionally, if a flooring failure occurs, and your RH readings for the slab have been called into question, you don’t need the additional hassle of trying to explain why your reusable probe’s calibration had not been recently verified according ASTM F2170. The very nature of the Rapid RH™ design and method with certifiably-calibrated (NIST) stay-in-place probes means that calibration concerns, traceability and the associated certified documentation is not left up to the flooring contractor, general contractor, Architect/Engineer or Independent Testing company.
With the Wagner Rapid RH™ method, you get accuracy and peace-of-mind with no recalibration and no hassle.

Simplest To Use
Your time is valuable. Staring down at an owner’s manual or fussing with a handheld meter and cabling and unnecessary complexity does not get your job done quickly. The Rapid RH™ method is simple and quick. Just insert the compact Rapid RH™ Reader into a Smart Sensor Insert, press the ON button and get a reading that anyone (owner, architect, general contractor or floor installer) on the jobsite can view. Also, each Smart Sensor comes with a NIST-traceable certificate of calibration. The CMOS Sens® technology insures the Smart Sensors’ accuracy and rapid equilibration, and since the Smart Sensor remains in the concrete, once it is equilibrated no further equilibration time is necessary. Readings can be taken as often as needed. |
