Ohhhhh yeahhhhh... Me and these guys have gone round and round....

You add a few ounces of silicate to a slab during the mix and all your problems suddenly go away!

Bob Higgens even jumped on a thread I was 'participating in' and clarified that there is no way silicates can do what these guys claim.

They claim all free water is 'used up' and 'held' within the first few days after pouring a slab, yet somehow this bound water is still free to hydrate the concrete. Huh

They use a soils test which basically is a column of water sitting on the slab core. If no water passes through the concrete, they claim their product has made the concrete 'vapor proof'. Huh

I know from placing CaCl tests on slabs treated with this magical powder that the MVER is HIGHER than the same slab without it. SO when you have a failure the flooring manufacturer walks away, then the magic foofoo dust company points fingers at anything and everything all the while saying the concrete passed their soils test so it can't be their product.

These companies will tell you that you can't test MVER using CaCl kits because their technology is too advanced. The only test they will recognize is the soils test D-5084.

Smoke---- Then mirrors--- Maybe more smoke if necessary.

Everyone is looking for a miracle cure, and there are companies jumping in a providing them. This is no different than a weight loss pill, hair growth tonic or gas milage magnet. All these shady products have 'experts' who claim they work great, satisfied customers who smile big smiles, and 'money back guarantees' that never get paid.

Meanwhile real industry experts shake their heads and show us these miracle products are junk science.
