Following the ASTM F2170 Standard, determine where the Rapid RH 4.0 test will be placed. No surface preparation is required.
Drill a hole to required depth in the concrete using a rotary hammer drill and a 3/4 inch masonry drill bit. Be sure to position the drill perpendicular to the surface being tested.
Attach the vacuum attachment to your vacuum cleaner. Insert into the hole and vacuum the dust particles out of the hole. Then use the 3/4 inch wire brush to loosen any pulverized concrete. Vacuum again and repeat this step twice.
It's important to have a thoroughly clean area around and within the hole. To install the Smart Sensor, place the insertion tool into the Smart Sensor cavity and press down firmly until the Smart Sensor is seated tightly at the bottom of the hole to ensure accurate, depth specific, test results.
To keep debris out of the Smart Sensor housing, attach the protective cap to the orange tube and place into the Smart Sensor until ready to take a reading.
To take a reading, remove the protective cap and insert the Rapid RH 4.0 Easy Reader into the Smart Sensor. The Rapid RH Touch-n-Sense technology allows for effortless insertion and will automatically power up the Easy Reader.
Wait until the relative humidity reading automatically appears on the screen. Then remove immediately. The LCD display will toggle between the percent RH reading and the degree temperature reading and will shut off automatically after five minutes. Record readings on the plotting chart included with each package of Smart Sensors. Once a Smart Sensor is equilibrated, future readings can be taken immediately without any additional equilibration time.
When ready to apply floor covering or coating, remove the cap, place the stainless steel metal disk over the Smart Sensor, and skim coat the hole using a cementitious patching compound compatible with the flooring manufacturer's installation instructions.
