ICRI Certification
Who here is ICRI certified? http://www.icri.org/Certification/certificationinfo.asp

We have an amazing lack of certified people in California who are independent consultants.

RE: ICRI Certification
Been meaning to go there sometime. Maybe next time they do it in Phoenix. Sounds like a good respectable cert.

The class will begin on the first day with registration from 8:00-9:00 a.m., followed by the 3-hour educational session. There will be a provided lunch and a study break from 12:00-1:00 p.m. followed by the written exam from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Following the written exam, Tier 1 applicants will attend a training session where they may receive or observe hands-on training on how to properly perform each of the four field performance tests.

For those registered for the full Tier 2 certification program, day two begins at 8:00 a.m., and each applicant will be required to perform all four ASTM tests listed above.

Certified? Gosh I hate to admit it, but I am not 'certified' by ICRI. But I don't fret about it. ICRI is a relatively new organization, and their Concrete Slab Moisture Testing certification is very very new. I've been testing concrete slabs for 15 years now and have worked along side some of the most knowledgeable people in the industry. Concrete moisture is my life, not a sideline or an occasional thing I come across. I just can't see spending $900 for a wallet card stating that some kid watched me conduct proper ASTM testing one time. Maybe there's more to it, maybe not.

I would like to know if they use Rapid Rh probes to conduct F2170 though. Does anybody know?

Can you imaging the hubbub when I put in a Rapid RH and others are using a Protimeter and the readings vary about 10 points??? I'd spend the rest of the day teaching the benefits of the Rapid RH system and mis my flight back! Wink

RE: ICRI Certification
I am certified through ICRI. Based in Florida. I believe they held a program in San Diego last year so there should be some around. Go to ICRI web site to find them.
ICRI has been around longer than you have been testing concrete slabs, and there are no children in the program looking over your shoulder only industry professionals who genuinely care about doing things right. You might just find out that you've been doing it wrong for the past 15 years.

Ouch... Sad Actually the ICRI was formed in 1988 as the International Association of Concrete Repair Specialists and the name changed to ICRI in 1993. You are correct that I began professionally testing in 1996 so ICRI is older than my professional testing career. Wink

As for doing it wrong.... I guess it depends on who you ask! Big Grin
