JK, the perception here is that the Californians speak "American" and everybody else has an accent. I think it's called "TV/ Movie American". It's the accent which Australian actors try to speak when they come to America to make it big (read; Simon Baker, Hugh Jackman, Rebel Wilson...). As if your unemployment isn't bad enough...we're coming to steal your plumb jobs...

I enjoyed the Chicagoan accent, unless I'm mistaken it sounded Noo Yorka- "fuggedaboudid! Deez freakin' NATO protestas..!"
