Perhaps Wagner just like to be different. Just look at Rapid RH!. They have their electromagnetic wave system for the MMC220. Non destructive is a bit of a bonus in our industry. Those pins- the flooring looks like its been attacked by snakes. And the MMC's readings do go deep! Yes, I know I sound like an ad for Wagner (Jason PM me for my mailing address when you're ready to send the cheque).
Agreed that I don't trust a meter to adjust for species but hey, you can always calibrate it for Oregon or Douglas Fir or whatever the starting point is, and use a chart to check the meter's accuracy!
