A GC wants a second opinion, and the first readings were Wagner's!

I was called to provide a second opinion on a job not 10 miles from my shop (THAT never happens!).

The original installer used Wagner Rapid RH probes but the readings were too high. Then the GC called me and wanted a second opinion. I talked to him for a while, and talked to the first installer (a good client of mine) and the decision was made. The owners want a second opinion, even if it is with the same testing probes.

So I put in three probes today just to validate the readings that the first installer was getting. I'll go back to check them tomorrow, and then on Sunday afternoon (I have a key ---- Small Town USA!).

My objectives on this job:
Gain and foster trust for the Wagner probes. The GC will use them again.
Teach the GC why the slab isn't drying.
Explain the dangers of flooring on a wet slab.
Offer a user friendly and fast mitigation system to eliminate future problems.

Wish me luck! I've never had a job this close to home!!!!

The results are in and the probes read exactly the same at 72 hours as they did at 22 hours. They are a bit lower than the first probes that were installed. They are a slight bit deeper in the slab as the installer was told the floor was 4-5 inches thick and I used the 4 inch depth because that's what the blue prints show.

Different spots, different readings even so slight a depth is what I think. Nothing spectacular should happen if the slab is protected.

I had a guy call me for moisture testing on a commercial job last week, just my luck I was in San Diego on a short vacation.
