Moisture going up

#1
I think I know the answer - but will run it past my favourite group of online moisture geeks and gurus to create a teachable moment.

A big commercial site, not fully closed yet: Re-readings done a few weeks after initial sensor insertions showed some readings actually higher than the first readings, by up to 3%.

2 x brand new sensors were put into an area approximately 100m2, the area was sealed off with plastic sheets and dehums run for a week. Three weeks after the first readings; one sensor read the same and one was higher by 2.5%.

The surface was highly burnished and a basic bead test didn't penetrate after 60 secs.

Also, the sensor which read higher was in a beam area, but it's unknown exactly how deep the beam is (throughout the site some are 400mm some are 600, all drying from both sides). If it's 600, then I definitely don't have 20% depth, it will be approximately 12% depth. Could this make for fluctuating readings?

Either way, I'm suspecting the burnished surface is seriously preventing the slab from drying.

Thoughts?
