The end is near!!!! - CC Solutions - 12-20-2012 09:48 PM
I just got in from blowing snow... We got somewhere between 16" and 20" of a heavy wet snow. Now the wind has picked up to 35 mph with gusts to 55 mph. Even though the snow is so heavy, those high winds are drifting it.
I went to town and the streets are in terrible shape. Cars are driving on the snow before the plows clear the streets, then the plows can't scrape the packed snow off. So the streets are a bumpy rutted mess.
I drove back home with my truck in 4 wheel drive and found the plow went down my road and pushed 3 feet of snow into the end of my driveway. I have 35" tires and a lift kit and I still pushed snow with my grill, it was that high!
Schools have been called off for today and tomorrow. The State Patrol is telling people to stay off the roads.
My kids wanted to take my snowmobile to town and ride around on the roads.
Maybe the world will end tomorrow like some people think... We should ask Pat, he lives in tomorrow....

Well the 21st made it and if the world is going to end today it better hurry up and do it.
I was awakened by my cell phone and home phone both going off too early. Seems my neighbor tried to get to work early and buried his truck down the road in a big snow drift. I put on my warm clothes and went out in the dark to find him.
Sure enough, he had made it about 100 feet into a drift across the road that was about 2 feet deep and maybe 300 feet long. I drove past him and back again to create a path to try and pull him out, but once I hooked onto his truck mine just dug down and spun tires on the ice beneath.
I was able to get out and gave him and his wife a ride home. We are waiting for the big county plow to come open the road so we can try extracting his truck again. I noticed all his tires are spinning freely so the truck frame is hung up on the snow... It will be a tough pull out on ice.

So much for his day. World ended here in Pittsburgh about 15 minutes ago but I ignored it.

ick. That is why I live in California. Living here is probably 80% more expensive but to avoid that sort of day... worth it.
Today it is 50 here. I have to remember to not complain when others have to deal with that sort of weather. I'm anoyed when I have to put a jacket on, I don't think I even know what a snow 'drift' is.

LOL! You should visit when it's 30 below zero with wind chills of 60 below. The cold takes your breath away. Cars engines freeze and break. The snow squeaks when you walk on it.
When we go to Florida the locals think we're crazy walking around in 50 degree weather in shorts and t-shirts.... But when it gets to be 80 here we are dying in the heat.

I'm sorry I missed this post! Funnily enough, your time zone was closer to the Mayan one so we actually had to wait until 10.30pm to see if the world was going to end.
As I understand it, the Mayan prophecy was badly misinterpreted. It actually meant "the Mayans are running out of calendars." So, if you see a Mayan, donate all of your spare calendars. Make sure they're not girly calendars- apparently the Mayans are really prudish.
Oh yeah and, see my other post- MERRY CHRISTMAS Y'ALL!

Well I have some work to do now....
I took out every loan I could, at any rate anyone offered! 20%, 30%, even one at 80% and then I had a wild PARTY on the 20th and spent thousands on wine, women and song... (the rest I just wasted), because I was SURE the Mayans couldn't be wrong...
