RE: Event: 12/6 CSI Topic: Floor Slab Moisture - eaadams - 12-07-2012 01:00 PM It was all the big CSI spec writers around the county. Gensler, AECOM, Perkins & Will, HOK etc... Probably 150+ on the call. But it was pretty basic. Focused, I think, too much on mitigation and not enough on concrete design to avoid the issues in the first place. There was a consensus they need to do it again and perhaps less 'general' I would hope. I'll post a link to you YouTube video when uploaded RE: Event: 12/6 CSI Topic: Floor Slab Moisture - CCR - 12-07-2012 01:08 PM Thanks for the thought Don't think so. I have given talks on the subject to upwards of 100 people, but I would never want to do something via Skype...I'd be a nervous wreck. Thanks!! They just will not listen. ![]() I need to learn what the control vs weakened plane joints are. I suspect control = active joints = NO GOOD for a gym. Any help? What does E.W. mean? Infact if someone wanted to take the above and do a point by point transaltion of what it 'says' and what someone needs to know when I read this it would be a good contribution. RE: Event: 12/6 CSI Topic: Floor Slab Moisture - CC Solutions - 12-22-2012 03:26 PM E.W. = Each Way. Blotter layers suck. And sand? How do they keep that from displacing while they are pouring unless they wet it first??? RE: Event: 12/6 CSI Topic: Floor Slab Moisture - CCR - 12-22-2012 03:43 PM I haven't seen a blotter course specified in ages. Not a good idea at all. What is their rationale? Perhaps another example of "cut and paste spec writing" RE: Event: 12/6 CSI Topic: Floor Slab Moisture - eaadams - 12-22-2012 04:15 PM In California I see it on >90% of jobs. At least every week. It may be cut and paste / lazy specs. When I confront the engineers on it, it is usually in hopes of lessening for slab curl since the prices people get for grinding off some curled edges are outrageous. I see it most often in the Dessert from Cal and down through Arizona. |
