concrete slab drying time - jpeters - 07-07-2009 02:21 PM

I've got a deck that I've got to measure, and I hear that they dry differently, or that ASTM classifies them differently, or something along those lines, because it's up off the ground. Is that true?

Is your concrete slab on a metal deck? How did you pour it?

Basically, ASTM F2170 says that if the slab is drying only from the top, you should drill to 40% into it for your test. If it's drying from both sides (which means it's not on a metal deck or sitting on the ground with a vapor retarder below) than you only should drill down 20% of the thickness
