I can't see any text in my last post, must be that ornery IE9. grrrrr
Anyway, I drilled it today. And one thing I've never see before was I hit red concrete or something red. Kind freaked me out and I stopped for a second to regain my composure.......but then I said hell with it I'm going down.
So anyone hit red concrete before? Maybe it was some dirt, i dunno.
Well I got my first "Hi" readings, all of them.
Yeah, it would have to be 83 degrees and 60% RH to have condensation issues on a 67 degree slab.... It just shouldn't happen if you are following manufacturer's guidelines....
You hit red! It's really common in the states around the Great Lakes because a lot of the RM plants use washed stone and it contains a lot of colored stone. We have red and dark grey, some green and tan... You never know what color is coming up in the dust. At least you know if you stop right in the center of some aggregate!
Concrete Answers for Flooring Problems
There isn't all that much liability in doing the testing. The issue becomes when the issue happens, how much 'support' do you provide to help them through the headache.
In California I've been involved in many of these deals. Often you can pour in time and effort just to have a low bid shop come in and cut you out of doing the 'real work' or they just put it out to low bid.
If the thing comes in wet and you know they don't have the money to repair it; Then they would need to get legal to pay to repair the floor, then you have to be very careful about the service (read money) you provide for free. Sounds like the original tester saw there wasn't much upside of doing more basic work.
Another thing to be careful about is most of these big box stores have their own installation crews. They travel the country in a convoy of pickups and trailers and pound these jobs out for corporate. So they may just want some cheap testing so that their own crews know what they are driving 700mi to do.
Well if I had the resources I would love to jump in on the mitigation gravy train. But for now all I'm doing is delivering answers to questions. I get paid for it and not afraid to show up in court.
