Just bought a used National Stripper
I found a used National Panther 6280 on AllofCraigs. The machine was in Georgia, and I'm in Wisconsin. I emailed the owner a couple times and he didn't seem too thrilled to even discuss the machine. After a month or two I wrote and he responded he still had it but we were so far apart he didn't know how we could do the deal. I told him I'll just send the money and a truck and you just load it up! He agreed, but asked if I didn't want to try it out first and all that jazz. Well heck, I figured by the time I fly down and fly back, and waste a day, it just wouldn't be worth it to me.

He didn't take credit cards, but he did have a PayPal account so I beamed him the money and called a trucker. He strapped the machine to a pallet and hopefully my truck will pick it up on Monday and deliver it to my shop on Thursday.

Through this whole deal I kept thinking how I must sound like a scam artist to this guy. I tell him I'll pay for the machine up front, just put it on my truck, no I don't want to see it.... LOL Smile

Hopefully the stripper works great, but really these things can break down any time. My other one started shaking a little bit so I took it in to get looked at and the repairman said it's just a bad bearing. Well by the time he was done he replaced 4 bearings and it end up costing me $1,400.

So yeah, the 6280 is an expensive stripper, but when it works it's a monster and it will remove almost anything!! Wink

Gotta be soemthing wrong with it, but you could always use it for parts. Did you say this one is the HD hydrolic model for wood and ceramic or the cheaper one for vct and carpet. Only about 5 grand difference.

It's the hydraulic model. Last I looked they list around 9K and sell in the 8K range.

Hmmm, I have the first one. I have never seen the second one, the one they call hydraulic.

RE: Just bought a used National Stripper
Well, I have read the literature on a few supply/tool websites and some say the cheaper one is only for vct and carpet. The hydrolic one is for hard surface flooring.

RE: Just bought a used National Stripper
We use the 'cheaper' one for VCT, vinyl, rubber and ceramic.

We use a carpet puller for carpet.
